Yellowstone trip: Hayden Valley and the Yellowstone river

Beautiful wide-open landscape in Hayden Valley, Yellowstone National Park

Travelling upriver from the falls area through Hayden Valley, you will have several encounters with the Yellowstone river flowing peacefully through the landscape. Above photo (composed of 3 photos) is taken from one of the many parking spots on the side of the road. [24mm, 1/320s, F8]

Yellowstone coyote
At the same spot we came across this coyote that was traveling along the river. [360mm, 1/3200s, F4]

Yellowstone river reflections
Great reflections when the weather is calm and cooperative. This photo and the next photos on this page were taken just north of the Fishing Bridge intersection. [24mm, 1/100s, F9.5]

Yellowstone river reflections
Another shot of that same river in a tranquil setting. [24mm, 1/60s, F9.5]

The next sequence of photos was a group of bison crossing the river at the same point as above two photos. Sometimes you are lucky to witness and capture this in Yellowstone.
